Ever wonder how Christine from the office always looks perfectly pulled together (even on a Monday!) whilst you run in with mismatched earrings and a pull in your tights? Contrary to popular belief, being eternally stylish is not a hard task.
The truth is, the fashionable friends you no doubt envy take part in the same five habits that make looking polished and cool every single day feel as easy as pie.
1. Plan ahead
Instead of waking up after slamming the snooze button three consecutive times and then rifling through your wardrobe in a total panic, try planning ahead. Select your outfit the night before and make sure it’s ironed, clean and ready to go. This means you can get up in the morning and focus on your hair and makeup rather than your outfit.
2. Wear the right undergarments
This may seem like a no-brainer, but your underwear really is the building blocks for your entire outfit. If you’re wearing underwear that don’t provide the right shape and support for the outfit, then it just isn’t going to reach it’s full potential. A few pieces to have in your underwear arsendal include strapless bras, seam free panties and shapewear.
3. Wear one expensive looking piece
Now this doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy a Birkin bag, but wearing one expensive looking, polished piece can really anchor your outfit and elevate it to a new level. If you’re just wearing a plain tee and jeans, take it higher by pairing with luxe looking accessories.
4. Be prepared
You can have all the best plans and life can still throw a spanner in the works. Whether that be in the form of a split seam or a coffee stain, it’s best to travel with a kit that can help you combat a fashion emergency. Put together a kit that contains a Tide pen, safety pins, double-sided tape and some bandaids in your handbag and get ready to take on the world.
5. Know when to wear flats
That’s right – heels are not always necessary. This may come as a shocker to you but sometimes it’s important to know when your stilettos are most definitely not necessary. Stylish women know that sometimes a great pair of patent flats make a better statement than a 6-inch heel ever could.
