We’ve heard of swimming with dolphins, whales and even sharks but this is a whole other ballpark. Who knew that pigs could even swim? The latest cult destination taking our Instagram feeds by storm is Big Major Cay or ‘Pig Beach’.
Pig Beach is located on an uninhabited island in The Bahamas and is named after its porky wildlife. Tash Oakley and Gabrielle Union are the latest celebs to visit the island, and it’s fast becoming every Instagrammers go to place for a photo op, with its crystal clear waters and friendly wild pigs.
No one knows how the pigs first came to be on the island as they are not native to the area. Popular theory contends that they swum to shore after a shipwreck off the coast and have lived happily there ever since.
There are about 20 pigs living on the island, and they spend their days sunning themselves on the beach before taking a dip in the cool ocean water. They largely survive off food from tourists and by drinking from the islands three freshwater lakes.
Is it weird to be jealous of a pig’s lifestyle? Sounds pretty good to us.
