There are few actors we love more than Neil Patrick Harris, and whilst he will always be Barney Stinson to us, he looks pretty damn unrecognizable on the set of his new project.
Harris has been cast as the villain in Netflix’s new adaptation of the hugely popular books A Series of Unfortunate Events. The Lemony Snicket books sold over 65 million copies worldwide at the start of the decade and follow the tragic tale of the orphaned Baudelaire children.
Harris stars as the Count Olaf, who frequently attempts to steal the orphans inheritance and basically ruin their lives. Fans of the books will be relieved that Olaf’s on screen look matches Snicket’s descriptions of him in the book – tall, thin and dirty.
Filming is currently underway in Vancouver, and the first photos from the set have been leaked, giving us a sneak peek into what the cast looks like. 42-year-old Harris is snapped with a serious receding hair line, a prosthetic nose and deep frown lines (all of which add up to look pretty damn terrifying).
This isn’t the first time Hollywood has attempted the Lemony Snicket series. Jim Carrey starred as Count Olaf back in 2004, in a film which combined the first three books in the series; The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, and The Wide Window.
The new series is being filmed for Netflix, and is due to consist of eight initial episodes. The release date is yet to be confirmed, but reports are suggesting that you can expect it around August. You can check out the very mysterious trailer below.
