We know that with the overload of beauty advice available in todays YouTube and Pinterest obsessed world, it can be hard to remember the most basic of makeup tips. This week Popsugar interviewed everyday women in their 20s, 30s and 40s and asked them for their number one beauty tips, and these are the three that really stood out…
“Less is more”
This may sound pretty old school but it most definitely still rings true. A lot of women go overboard with their makeup application in the attempt to create an entirely new appearance for themselves. The end effect is usually pretty damn unflattering. Good makeup can be totally transformative and give you a boost of self esteem but you still want to look and feel like you after all the makeup comes off.
“Red lip looks good on everyone”
A sharp red lip is a guaranteed instant mood booster. If you think it doesn’t suit you, you just haven’t found the right shade yet! Have you got a warm skin tone? Opt for a red lipstick with a warm orange base. On the cooler side? Always select a blue based red lipstick, which has the bonus feature of making your teeth look pearly white. A slick of red lipstick is the beauty trend that has stood the test of time for a reason – because it works.
“Play up your best features”
Applying makeup should be a process of highlighting your most beautiful features. Whilst there is no problem concealing some under eye circles or naughty pimples, you should be focusing on playing up your best features rather than concealing your perceived flaws. Proud of your Kardashian-esque long lashes? Layer on the mascara. Love your angular cheekbones? Contour away girlfriend.
