The evolution of Kylie Jenner’s lips is one of the most talked about and controversial Kardashian topics of the last few years. The rising starlet has been on camera since she was a tot, and her rise to fame has been faithfully documented ever since by the trusty Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s film crew as well as paparazzi the world over.
Kylie is just barely a tween in these first pictures and her beauty staple was clearly kohl eyeliner. When she stepped out a KIIS FM’s Wango Tango red carpet event she was not even wearing lip balm – how times have changed.
She beefed up her beauty arsenal and went for a Marlene Dietrich, old Hollywood look at the release of Selena Gomez’s new album in 2010. Her lips are highlighted with gloss and we can see the early beginnings of her classic winged eyeliner look.
Kylie went full California girl at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards, pairing her completely bare (and still au natural) lips with bronzed eye shadow and some serious cheek highlighter.
And so it begins – in 2012 we see the beginnings of Kylies lip addiction as she steps out at the Hollywood Style Awards with an obviously overlined top lip. She has cleverly used a nude lip pencil to match her dusty rose lip colour.
Kylie broke out of her nude-lip comfort zone to debut a stunning matte red lip at the 2013 Kid’s Choice Awards. You can see that she has once again overdrawn her lips with liner, but the effect is subtle and classy.
This photo was pretty much the point when rumors began to fly regarding Kylies newly pouty look. She rocked up to the Billboard Music Awards with fresh new blue tresses but her obviously plumped up pout stole the spotlight.
This was the year in which Kylie finally owned up to getting lip fillers, after a disastrous few months where teens became obsessed with achieving plump lips through the 'Kylie Jenner lip challenge'. She said “I want to admit to the lips, but people are so quick to judge me on everything, so I might have tiptoed around the truth.”
Kylie is looking a little more natural these days and has even confessed on camera that she is ‘over’ her super plumped up pout. Could we see the revival of 2009 Kylie on the cards? Probably not, considering the sell out success of her makeup line.
